About Us

Hello and welcome to The Vale Primary Academy!!

Here at The Vale, we are extremely proud to be ‘an outstanding school that enables pupils to achieve exceptionally well academically and personally’ (Ofsted 2007) and to have ‘first-rate relationships between staff and pupils, an exciting curriculum and high quality teaching’.

We value our community links with churches, charities, other schools and local businesses and feel that these partnerships make a significant contribution to the ethos of sharing and learning that is central to life at The Vale.

vp2.jpgWe have high expectations of all our children and learning takes place in a calm, friendly and purposeful way. Our teachers, aided by an effective team of support- staff, plan and present lessons that are meaningful and interesting and promote enjoyment, personal development and achievement for children of all abilities.

I am very proud and honoured to be Head of Academy at The Vale Primary Academy. The Academy is a very special place where our team of teachers, support staff, supervisors, parents and children all work together to ensure the highest standards and expectations. Throughout my time as a teacher and leader I taught in all year groups, in schools of varying contexts, and lead schools to achieve and strive for the highest possible rates of learning, always with a passionate drive to improve outcomes for all children. As an educational consultant I have supported the development of many schools and academies across the country, delivered at conferences on areas ranging from; ICT in education to positive behaviour management, transforming writing for all children to tailoring pedagogy to support children with specific learning needs. As Head of Academy I believe in making the most of every day in order to ensure all children are happy, safe and confident to take on challenges and fulfil their unlimited potential.

The Vale Primary Academy caters for up to two hundred and fifty boys and girls between the ages of three and eleven. The school is situated on the boundary of Knottingley and Ferrybridge, three miles from Pontefract and four miles from Castleford.

Literacy and numeracy are at the heart of our pupils' success in learning. We build on our strengths to serve the needs of our children using the skills and expertise of everyone in school. Governors ensure that only the highest quality staff are recruited and experienced support staff work alongside our team of highly motivated teachers.
